Basin Street East Dress Designed by Barbra Streisand, New York 1963 The empire style full length gingham dress is made of red checked rayon with sheer chiffon sleeves trimmed with the same red check. There is a slit at the bottom back of the dress. There is a hook and eye and zipper closure. There are no labels. Barbra designed and wore this dress during her May 13th to June 1st 1963 engagement at the Basin Street East where she was billed with Jazz great Benny Goodman. Although Benny Goodman was given top billing Billboard magazine's review of the show focused mainly on Barbra lauding, (sic) It was a gala opening and a very impressive mid-town debut for the thrush.and on the basis of her work at the club that night, it is a safe bet to say she is headed for eventual night club and musical comedy stardom." A Happening In Central Park Irene Sharaff Cape, New York City, June 1967 Cape made up of two layers of pleated chiffon panels of varying shades of green and pink. The full length cape was worn over the shoulders with a gown on stage. There are no labels. In the sheep meadow section of New York City's Central Park, Streisand delivered a historic free concert to 135,000 spectators in June of 1967. During a break in the filming of Funny Girl, Barbra Streisand flew to New York for this engagement. The record breaking show was taped for television and not telecast until September 17, 1968. For this concert, she again worked with the brilliant Irene Sharaff. This voluminous cape allowed her to be quite visible on stage, even to those far away. Light staining throughout, overall good condition.

Donald Brooks Gown, Life Magazine, May 22, 1964 Light pink and green chiffon full length sleeveless dress, having empire style waistline, spaghetti straps, two layers of chiffon over silk shell, back side in darker shade of green. There is a zipper closure at inside area of shell, hook and eye closure at chiffon overlay and large silk tag sewn to bottom of shell reading, 190" in handwritten notation. She was photographed wearing this dress for the May 22, 1964 cover of Life magazine. In 1963 Donald Brooks accomplished the unrivaled achievement of winning a Tony Nomination, an Oscar Nomination, and the same year Mr. Brooks won the first of his three Coty Awards. Light spotting on chiffon throughout, some discoloration, otherwise good condition."
